Pink Pie Miami- Home of the Original Mini Pie
If there’s one thing everyone can agree on, it’s our love of pie. The American dessert staple is a popular choice throughout the year, and with so many distributors of the product, it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd. However, Pink Pie (@trypinkpie) has managed to do just that.
Founded by Paloma and Michael McGowan- both trained in the culinary arts in Manhattan- this local pie shop is serving up mini pies, in a variety of unique flavors. The original mini pie shop originated at the Yellow Green Farmers’ Market 3 years ago in Hollywood, where you can still find their stand on the weekends. However, in January 2019, Pinky Pie opened their Wynwood location – complete with bleacher style seating, neon lights and an eccentric Miami vibe.
Pink Pie is home of the original mini pie and while their creators are perfectly able of dishing out delicious normal size pies, they found the miniature versions of the classic dessert were even more popular. There’s a reason they’ve been voted the Best Pie Shop in Florida by USA Today and the Best Pie Shop in Miami by the Miami New Times.
Currently there are over 50 flavors of the pies- rotating seasonally throughout the year (think sweet potato pie around thanksgiving). Some of the more popular options include a mini Key Lime pie and an Oreo Nutella pie. Natahsa, one of the baristas at the Wynwood location, loves the Coconut Dulce de Leche pie- one of their seasonal selections, and one of their rotating vegan options. No matter the time of year, Pink always offers a vegan pie so everyone is free to indulge.
Nothing pairs with pie like a good cup of coffee and Pink Pie has already thought of this. From a very Miami cortado to an always favorite macchiato or a matcha latte**, you’ll be sure to find the perfect drink to pair with your mini pie.
And if you’re truly looking for the ultimate treat, then take a leap and order one of their milkshakes. These can be made with any of their available pies. Or if you’re looking for a cold sweet, give their Pie’Scream sandwiches a shot.
Inside their flagship store, you’ll find yourself in an open and beautifully lit space. The order counter takes up a small space towards the back of the store, leaving room for cute wooden chairs and tables and their glorious bleachers, complete with seat pillows and a neon sign with words to live by- ‘Don’t be shy, try some pie!”. With colorfully patterned walls and even a plant decorated merch area, this small store is a great place to sit and relax with your favorite pie, a hot coffee and your daily to-do on your laptop.
Pink pie currently has two locations, with plans to open more. You can find them at their original location at the Yellow Green Farmers’ Market, Unit 112 (@ygfarmersmarket) on Saturdays and Sundays. Keep in mind that this location only serves pies.
Their flagship store in Wynwood is open seven days a week and offers pies, coffee, matcha and milkshakes! You can also grab some cute Pink Pie merch and shoot your cute instagram-worthy photos in this sweet location.
Stop wasting time and make your way over to either of their locations for South Florida’s OG mini pies- serving up cuteness and flavor, with full-on Miami vibes.
**Dairy-free options available for their drinks.
